Underwriter |
One who purchases from an issuer for resale to the public, or contracts to sell for an issuer, a new issue of securities. The organization which acts as chief distributor of a fund. |

Uniform Gift to Minors Act (UGMA) |
A law adopted in most states which permits a direct gift to a minor without a trust or guardianship. The donor appoints a custodian to manage the gift until the minor reaches the age of maturity. |
