Keogh Plan |
A retirement plan which can be established by an individual who has earned income from self-employment for the benefit of the employer and his or her employees. The limits of tax-deductible contributions are similar to those provided for corporate plans. The employer receives a tax deduction for contributions. Funds are not taxable until drawn. |

Key Employee |
A term used to describe a specific type of employee in determing whether a qualified retirement plan is "top heavy" and thus required to comply with specific additional rules set forth by the IRS. Also used to describe employees who are critical to the success of a company and for which life insurance is needed forprotection against financial loss. |

Know Your Customer |
Industry obligation, imposed by New York Stock Exchangets Rule 405 but equally implied by other industry rules, that requires a brokerage firm and its registered representatives to know the important facts about the customers with whom they do business. The rule requires due diligence because what may be unimportant for one customer may be very important for another. |
